Odd RTV behavior

I have four 5000 series units (with a fifth on the way) and one of them
did something strange today that I've never seen before. I'm curious if
others have seen this or know why it happened.
The RTV in my home office is connected to an older Fujitsu 42" plasma
that senses the presence of video to turn itself on and off. Although
the RTV is always on, when the blue light is on there is video output
and when it's off there is none so it controls the monitor too.
Today, the RTV turned itself on which turned the monitor on as well for
no apparent reason. Watching the screen, I saw that the RTV rebooted
itself, waited about a minute and then turned itself off again!
Thinking it may have just received a program update I checked but found
the last connection had occurred almost 5 hours earlier. There were no
messages.
Anybody here know why this happened?

The Replay Reboots itself periodically, for no apparent reason. This
is a good thing, since it's likely to reboot before the accumulated
errors become significant. It shouldn't reboot during recording or
network connection.

My old Showstopper powered up and down several times during the day.
The hard drive was loud enough that it was hard to miss.

One thing that helped some was to enter the "disable disk spindown"
command. Keeping the disk running would make the sound more regular
and easier to ignore. I used to have 2 of those older units and did it
on both.
