Hi Everyone. I need your help. I have an old Sony Player (sony mhc vx777). The player itself is kind of damaged already. Is there any way I can reuse the speakers? (2 front speakers and 2 surround speakers) Thanks!

Solution

Yes, AV Receivers have an amp built-in to connect them all up. Good intro to AV receivers here

Looking at the specs, they are 6-ohm speakers so just have to double check the receiver can handle the 6-ohm impedance (most can without problem). One model that keeps coming up when I search, the Onkyo TX-SR373 really good deal at $200.

To make it 5.1 just get a 6-ohm center channel like this Sony SSCS8 and maybe a decent powered sub like the Polk Audio PSW10 that would compete your budget surround setup!
