operating system not found

Hi I have a sony vaio laptop and have installed a new hdd on it when I look in the bios section the new hdd is detected however when I try to install windows 7 from a flash drive I get a message saying no operating system found I have even changed the boot order to boot from external device but it makes no difference I just get the same message.

Maybe the drive is not bootable. Try using Microsoft Media Creation tool.

Hi the drive is bootable I created it using iso to usb I tested it on a working netbook.

Not sure what's wrong, then... A local pc store might help.
