optical cable av converter help

how can i connect my new 3d tv to a surround sound system with the yellow white and red cables coming from the technics home cinema system as the stereo doesn't have a optical cable access point , I know I need an av converter but I need one that supports 5.1 DTS can anyone HELP me on what I need to purchase many thanks in advance

If your Technics only has left and right analog audio inputs (yellow is for video) then you cannot get kind of digital audio (Dolby or DTS) into it with any kind of adapter. Your surround system would need a 5.1 channel analog audio input for an adapter to work. You will need a new surround sound system with a digital input or a new surround receiver.
