Outputting 4K at 60Hz from a Laptop

Hey everyone. I recently purchased a ROG Strix GL702VM-DB71 and have been trying to hook it up to an ASUS 4K monitor I have at home.

When outputting via HDMI, the laptop is called to 30Hz, not ideal for gaming.

The Monitor is certainly capable of showing 4K at 60Hz through a Display Port.

The notebook has a thunderbolt 3 output and a mini display output. Is there any way to get it to output 4k at 60Hz?

I believe you just need a properly rated Mini-DP to DP cable. Has to be at least DP 1.3.

Commonly PCs are not capable through HDMI for 4K due to the specs they need to maintain which is below the specs you may have seen for the latest iteration of HDMI. Normally Display Port (as you said) and definitely thunderbolt can do 4K within specs. In fact if you read the MANUAL for your ROG it will tell you exactly how to achieve 4K or go to the ROG website FAQ.

Much faster if you read the instructions or look up the maker and the specific model on thier website to answer the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
