Hello,
I have an older reciver that doesn't have HDMI input, yet it has SPDIF (but only one). My TV is connected to the receiver over SPDIF and Xbox One is connected to the TV over HDMI. Xbox is able to bitstream* AC-3 over HDMI.
I want to know if it is possible to send AC-3 over HDMI (through TV) to SPDIF without reencoding in the TV (the TV would just forward the sound from HDMI to SPDIF) without theoretically any delay, or I should rather rewire the SPDIF cable from TV to Xbox every time I will use it.
Thanks for reply

* It can also outputs uncompressed 5.1 but SPDIF doesn't supports surround PCM so it would be useless to send it uncompressed over HDMI because TV would still had to encode it to AC-3 anyway due to SPDIF limitations.

I tried it and it works, when Xbox powers on receiver shows AC-3, so TV is actually sending surround sound, the problem is that it seems to me that audio is with small latency, but I am not really sure because I can't test it.
