Hi everyone,
I have an old Asus Eee PC 1001HA netbook, it's working fine for basic tasks.
Can you please help with with the following 2 issues?
1. HDD password lock
2. Boot Booster
I want to password protect the hard disk in BIOS, however this option can't be selected, although it is displayed on the screen. I was able to only apply supervisor and user passwords and access rights, but not HDD password.
Please note that I have deleted all the partitions on the HDD, I made new ones and I formatted them, because previously the notebook had Windows XP and factory set recovery files on it (in hidden partitions), but then I removed all that and I installed Windows 7. I wonder if this caused the problem. But is the HDD password somehow related to the files on the hidden partitions, I don't know.
Also, does this mean that now I should not turn on the Boot Booster option, since the files for it have been deleted from the HDD? Note that the Boot Booster still remains in BIOS.
Or maybe I can just turn Boot Booster on and it will make the necesary cache files on the HDD automatically? Or I have to remake it's hidden partition?
Note that I have turned off Bootbooster when installing the new operative system as that is required per the instructions. Now I'm wondering what would happen if I turn it on back again (IF it can be turned on again, I do not touch it right now, I don't want to mess something).
Thank you.
