PC keeps asking me to format Olympus xD memory card

I just purchased a brand new Olympus xD M+ memory card for my digital camera. In the camera it works great, but as soon as I put the card in the media card reader on my PC it prompts me to format, then fails to format. After which I have to put it back in the camera to format it successfully. When I connect the camera to my PC using a USB cable the card is recognized fine and I can move pictures over.

Sound like the media reader on your PC is not compatible(probably older generation) to the card.

I don't think that's the problem. The memory card reader in my PC used to work fine, until one day last week when I inserted my old xD memory card and it asked me to format. I thought the card died so that's why I bought a new one.
