Hi there,

- I managed to connect my receiver (Pioneer VSX-529) with my PC using optical cable.
The sound works on TV input.

Now I'm trying to connect Monitor with av receiver, but with no result.

So far I did:
- Run the second cable from monitor (DVI with HDMI end to av receiver - I used HDMI OUT but nothing happens.
- I have read that an optical cable sends sound and picture at the same time, so do I still need my monitor to be connected via HDMI to the receiver?

I am not using TV, but would like to see the av receiver menu on my monitor. Im sure it's possible, just couldn't find solution so far.

Any tips very welcomed.

Thanks!

Some monitors with multiple inputs don't detect automatically, make sure the monitor is selected to the right input source.

If your GPU has HDMI it can also do sound.

The AVR's HDMI out will work with a HDMI to DVI cable, the cable needs to be digital though.

The DVI end of the cable and monitor needs to match any one of the DVI I or D ports in the picture to be digital.

You've got it backwards, optical doesn't have enough bandwidth to do video, it only does sound.

HDMI does both. The HDMI output on the AVR is a pass through. Make sure you have it set in the AVR to HDMI pass through and also select the right input source the computer is using.

Ok, thanks for so quick reply.

I My monitor, Eizo, has HDMI, analog, and Digital connection available.

When I disconnected analog from Monitor and graphic card port,
and then connected Digital with HDMI to HDMI OUT port, nothing happens, but when I went to AVR set up it showed me: "Signal Error" on my monitor.
Otherwise my Monitor stays in "Standby" mode.

Whould standard HDMI to HDMI cable solve my problem then?

From what you tell me I understand that it would be better to connect desktop graphic card port) by HDMI cable to HDMI input to AVR, then AVR OUT to Monitor?

Sorry if I'm wrong. Trying hard to understand it :)

Thanks a lot!
