PC set up on Onkyo AV receiver

I have just tried to hook up my PC to my Onkyo receiver with an HDMI cable, and the audio comes out fine, but it will only display the PC desktop (home) screen, not what I am playing.
I have tried the HDMI cable through other inputs on the TV and it works fine.
How can I set it up so that it shows what I am playing as well as the sound?

It works when you connect the PC directly to the TV?
You can try to set receiver/TV as a second display and adjust the resolution to be compatible with the receiver.
You can also use an HDMI audio extractor to provide a digital audio output from the PC. That will let you connect the PC to the TV directly with HDMI and to the receiver with digital audio.
