HI guys,
I am trying to learn about file sizes and formats but it's so confusing. When I use Dvd Decrypter and then Dvd Shrink I usually get the entire movie down to 4GB where it looks great when I burn it to a DVD.
But I decided to buy a video editor to cut out some adult scenes so my children can watch.
I tried 5 different video editors that say they could edit Mpeg2 and burn to DVD like Cyberlink Power Director and Pinnacle and Movavi. I tested all these software programs to see if I could fit it back on a dvd with the best quality I could get, and I was astounded.

For instance, The movie, the Interview, I used no transitions or editing at all and after I used the export settings of 1280 x 720 at 29.97 fps with a DVD setting at high quality, the estimated file size was 27.33GB.

What I am trying to say is, why is it when I use Dvd Shrink the file size is only 3.4GB but when I use a video editor the same movie is 27.33GB. What video editor will edit Mpeg2 with a file size that can be burned back to a DVD with high quality. Do I need to buy a VOB to .MP4 converter?
And can you play back .MP4 on a DVD player?

In the settings when you export are you able to select MPEG2 DVD? You could try a couple of free tools (not video editing software) such as Handbrake or MPEGStream clip to convert the files. What format is the video in when you import it into one of the video editing tools you have tried? Is the movie you tried from a DVD or Blu-Ray disk?

I use MPEG-2 video onto a single DVD disc (4.7GB). I first use DVD Shrink to get it down under 4.7GB before I install it to disc but I could never just get 1 large file. They are always broken up into 1GB files and there's usually 4 to 6 files. That's where the problem always comes in with these editors. I checked the option not to break up the files in DVD Shrink but It never seems to work.
