Please Help Me

Okay so I plug my computer into the tv with my hdmi cord and nothing shows on the computer or the tv, so I go to the display to fix it, and nothing works. What do I do?

The order you boot the computer and select the input on the TV makes a difference.
Try reversing the order.
It might take 10 seconds for the computer and TV to "handshake".
Try a different HDMI input on the TV and a different HDMI cable.
Try plugging and unplugging the cable from the computer while the TV is on that input.
