Please help NO AUDIO!

Im running windows 8
my audio card is either intel (r) audio display or NVIDIA virtual audio device.
in the bottom right of my screen is just shows the regular speaker symbol but with a red x next to it. when i go in to view playback devices it tells me i have none. but under device manager i have the two things above that are listed under the sounds option.

Heres what ive tried so far.
Rebooting.
hibernating and waking up (usually works)
uninstalling those things listed above and reinstalling them
trouble shoot it thru windows.

yes and it shows me those two drivers that i mentioned earlier except when i look for playback or recording devices in my sound settings it cant find any device unless i have my headphones in. almost as if my speakers dont exist anymore

it seems you are missing the sound driver.

the ones you listed are the sound drivers for the video card (HDMI).

Is AVG installed? If it is it can stop the windows audio service which will kill the sound.

See if the service has stopped. If it has start it it'll probably bring up an error

Uninstall AVG then use its removal tool

If there is anything in its vault restore it first

go to start/run type services.msc

Go to the service see if its running or stopped

If its stopped try to start it
