hi,

I just bought the presonus firepod. Anyone purchase this? it's a bang for
the buck to get 8 ins to the computer. works great with Nuendo. though I was
reading in their FAQ on their website. it says you can get 10 simultaneous
recordings using the instruments line ins from the rear as well with the 8
ins in the front. I can't seem to get this to work. the manual says that the
inserting anything in the line in from the rear will override the 2 mic
lines in the front, thus still giving me 8 simultaneous recordings. Was
anyone able to get 10 simultaneous tracks recorded? Please help.

the interface is great though, any comments from anyone else who uses or
used one?

I was interested in Presonus Firebox, any idea what kind of latency
can expect from this device?

Are you sure that two of those ten source channels don't have to be
digital? Often manufacturers count inputs as all possible inputs, not
just the ones you want to use.

I belive Mike is correct. The Firepod has 10 channels of bidirectional
FireWire communication, eight mic/line inputs, MIDI and S/PIDIF I/O. So to
get 10 tracks at once you'll need to input a digital S/PDIF signal ( which
is stereo for 2 more tracks ). CD Players, DAT machines, and some modern
keyboards and effects units may have S/PDIF I/O on them. ( see page 17 of
your manual for more information )

Yes. The ten inputs include the eight mic/line/instrument inputs and stereo
digital input. It does look like they can all be used simultaneously,
which is good. Sometime companies list the total number of inputs for an
audio interface, even if they can't be used simultaneously (a misleading
practice, IMO).
