Pro tools le 6 7 wont record

i messed up and cleared all files from my hard drive. now i've reinstalled pro tools le 6.7 and when i enable the track to record and click play to recoed my vocals it doesnt record anything. i can hear myself thru the speakers if the audio track isnt playing, but as soon as Iclick the record at the top left it does nothing. please somebody help me
