My issue is that no matter what I try, my computer wont enter sleep mode properly. This has been going on 1-2 years without being able to come up with a fix. The computer initially turns the display and fan off, the power button starts blinking as expected, but then the power button and fan both turn back on, and my battery drains. The display is still off, but the computer is awake and running. This happens with the lid open and closed as well.
Here are the modifications I have done to my asus N56vz:
Swapped atheros wifi card for an intel 6235
Upgraded to 16gb crucial ram
Installed system on 128gb samsung 840 pro
Put the old 750gb hdd in the cd drive slot with an adapter, and removed the necessary pin for rebooting.
After a rma, my backlight keyboard was not working, and I had to followe some crazy terminal/dos guide to get it back.
I have opened up and removed and reinstalled all the hardware myself as well.
Now here is the weird part. The issue persists through any OS i install. After wiping my hard drive and reinstalling windows 7, 8, and 10 from scratch, I am no further in fixing this issue. I have not sent the RMA to Asus yet, as I'm worried they will replace my whole motherboard and charge me a ton (whereas their software repairs are $50), and microsoft was not able to fix it via remote tech support. I'm thinking maybe it's a bios issue, or if i have recovery CDs it might work. I initially thought it was a problem with the chipset and windows 10, but that doesnt seem to be the case. I have tried with original hardware as well and it still does not work.
I am totally frustrated and puzzled, and on the verge of buying a new desktop to run Pro Tools sessions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
