Hi,

A friend of mine told me if I can change the motherboard of his Asus X59SL AP287C laptop because he had problems with the laptop's GPU. I've replaced it with an Asus X59SL AP325C motherboard that he has bought on ebay.
Everything seems fine but when I turn it on I can't see anything on the screen, I can hear the Asus logo sound and after that the BIOS beeps twice (short beeps). Maybe an SDRAM incompatibility?

Here are the specifications of the two models:

- ASUS X59SL AP287C: https://icecat.us/es/p/asus/90nm7z27b1c91cgc108/notebooks-X59SL-AP287C-3307611.html

- ASUS X59SL AP325C: https://icecat.us/es/p/asus/x59sl-ap325c/ordenadores-port-tiles-X59SL-AP325C-3419121.html

Thank you very much in advance.

Solution
Did you use the same cpu? If you did, because they have different types of sockets, 478 and 479, also AP287C does support 45nm cpu with 25W TDP, and AP325C does support 65nm cpu with 35W TDP. They are not compatible.

Thanks a lot for your answer cin19, I'm using the AP287C cpu (Intel Core 2 Duo) on the APC325C cpu slot so surely you're right and it's a cpu incompatibility problem.

Could I break something using an incompatible CPU with the APC325C mother board?
