Question about HDMI port on Non-HD TV

I have and HDMI port on my TV, but oddly, it is not an HD Television. Can I use Roku even though my TV is not HD? The Television is a Philips model 32PFL3506/F7 and the HDMI port says HDMI 2. We do not have a Roku, but were thinking of getting one. But we heard that they only work with HD TVs and ours is not HD.

According to their product page, older Rokus, the new Roku Express+ (3710), and the somewhat new Roku 1 SE (2710) support lower resolutions than just HD as the minimum, so it should work with the right model, though I find it odd that you have a non-HD TV with an HDMI port. I didn't know TVs existed with HDMI below the 720i/720p resolution.

Some Roku devices are specifically made for SDTVs instead of HDTVs.

So you can at least get a picture and audio from for example a free view tv box or any other device.

And you are mistaken, bellow is the model of Lcd Philips television you have Jarnaul.
It list the screen size and all of the display mode the Tv can display just to clear thing up for you.

So it looks like you will be able to buy a Roku box and it should run fine on the set you have.

I just had a quick look at the product page for your television and it actually is hd it is 768p so any roku should work just fine.

Thank you. I guess I was mistaken. We were using it connected to an older computer and a friend was helping me because the picture was not coming out right (I am quite ignorant about these things as you can see) and he said, "the problem is that it is not HD." But I guess it is HD afterall. Probably the issue was with the computer instead of the TV. We will try a Roku. Thanks for the help

Your friend picked the wrong conclusion based on evidences he could not explain.
