i am trying to fit older laptop with more memory, have two 256 mg sticks of sodimm one is 100 mghrz one is 133, board has own soldered on memory, so am stuck with it's 64 meg, when I put other then the 128 stick it came with I get an error on boot of pci dll error and it will not boot, cannot get it to fix using windows xp cd, will this maching be best using ubunta, it shipped with millenium on it years ago, all I want it for is running automotive diagnostic obd ll port hacking tools. :bounce:

the mobo does not support more memory. Keep in mind that ages ago 128 MB of memory was huge.
Not enough for Ubuntu, either. Will need a different linux distro or just Win Me back on it, if you still have it, if not Win 98.

the info for the laptop from toshiba site say's it will take a total of 320 MB, onboard 64mg and additional single mem module of 256, it came with a 128 mem add on and I am trying to change it to a 256 mem add on,, do I need to clean install win xp after mem addition, changing from a 128 to a 256 single chip add on might be confusing the op syst, the parameter for the memory if I remember my xp stuff, that it does not like system changes much,
