ram question need attention

i have 1gb 2rx16 pc2-5300s-555-12 ram. and i would like to upgrade more the ram. now im looking form ram. what i found is 2gb 2rx8 pc2-5300s-555-12 by the same brand. if i plug in the ram,is it will be compatible?can anyone help me? i do need help from you.

Memory can be tricky, particularly older RAM, sometimes it's difficult to know when will and won't be compatible.

Your best option is using the Crucial Memory Advisor: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/advisor

Plug in either your system (if it's a pre-build dell/hp or similar) OR your motherboard details if it's a home-built system. You'll get a list of compatible RAM which you can buy direct from crucial. You can match the specs of the RAM they list with a cheaper alternative from elsewhere and it should work too.

Already done that.but I want the cheap one.the used memory that available.please help me.

Well then... like I said above... if the Crucial memory advisor for your system/MB lists a 2GB stick with the same specs as the 2nd hand model you're buying, then it SHOULD work. If it doesn't, then it's unlikely that it will work. That website is usually pretty good.

Already check again at crucial.they said I compatible to use pc2-6400. I think this might work for me.thanks all for fast feed back.
