RCA Cambio tablet will not enter recovery menu

I'm trying to do a factory reset on my RCA tablet, but all the guides online state that I need to hold the volume up key as well as the power key when turning it on to enter the recovery menu, but it does not do this, it simply kicks me to a black screen where I can move the mouse and nothing else. Anyone have any idea of another way I can perform a hard reset on this thing?

the only issue I have with the way RCA recommends recoverign their tablets, is that they assume I can still access the settings menu and/or the charms bar on windows, however I can't access any of that, so in reality what I need is someway to fresh install windows on this thing to fix the error. When it was given to me I was advised that it had shut off during an update, and since then it's been majorly messed up and it won't let me access anything that you normally could in windows.

Click the power icon in the lower right corner of the login screen. Hold the shift key while clicking the power reset option. Make sure to hold the shift key until the blue screen appears. Select troubleshoot. And just follow the process options for factory reset. The "Full reset" option takes longer than the "Just my files" option. You will lose all saved files, such as, photos, music, and documents. Hopefully this is helpful to anyone who may run into a problem which requires the resetting of a Windows 10 Tablet. ALSO YOU WILL NEED A KEYBOARD TO COMPLETE THIS TASK SO YOU CAN USE THE SHIFT KEY. TO CONNECT A KEYBOARD TO YOUR TABLET SOME MAY NEED AN OTG (ON THE GO) ADAPTER CABLE IF YOUR TABLET IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A PROPRIETARY KEYBOARD DOCK. ENJOY. H. Muhammad

Sain_1....I was having trouble trying to log my uncle into his tablet. I tried everything. when I read your advice it worked and helped a lot. thank you so much
