RCA Keyboard trouble

I bought a 2 in 1 RCA Cambino windows laptop and I'm trying to figure out how to connect and external keyboard and mouse. it only has one usb port so I've tried a wireless keyboard and mouse combo that use one usb plus and the mouse didnt work, so i bought a usb thing that splits into two usb ports to plug in a mouse and keyboard but whichever i plug in first is the one that works, not the other. Any suggestions or anyone know how to fix this? Or should i just return it and get an actual laptop?

It should allow you to run both via the dual port or even the wireless. That it won't makes me a little leery of the device.

Were it me, I would just get a laptop that works the way you want. Be sure it has enough ports.
