Repurpose netbook's LVDS port?

I have a netbook that uses a lcd that takes a 30pin lvds cable. MSI Wind U100. I want to repurpose the laptop without the screen for a project. I'd like to remove the built in lcd and use an adapter to convert the motherboard's onboard lvds port to VGA (or DVI or HDMI, depends on whats feasible). To repeat, I dont' want to use the the LCD with a desktop computer, I want to use an external monitor with the LVDS internal input. Is this possible?

Looks like it already has a VGA port - are you sure you can't use that?

I plan on using the VGA port too. I'd like to use both.
