RV so no wifi; movies on ext USB HDDs to TV...media player??

Movies are ripped to external hard drives. I want to play them on my TV's TV.

We have power but no wifi. We used to use boxee but I've noticed few media streamers are wired nowadays.

Options?

Any $40 android media box you plug in an external drive and play the files off it.

Might you suggest a few? I don't know what is what not uber tech savvy...fire tv or nvidia seem to be some but do they play avi files?

Also some DVD players have USB ports you can connect the drive to. The drive would have to be formatted and have video files that are compatible with either the box or DVD.
