this is not hacking, for palin put in a security question that has nothing to do with the answer for example:

Where I met my husband?

Blue green field of fairies

You just have to remember this

[citation][nom]house70[/nom]Let's face it, he got this sentence only because she is who she is... If my email account was "hacked" that way, the perp would have gotten a slap on the wrist.[/citation]

Actually, he probably got a light sentence ("prison camp"? seriously?) because of who his daddy is. You all DO remember his daddy is a democrat politician, right?

Are you kidding me? It is a felony because you are using a federally owned service to deliver the mail. By using a free third party service like yahoo or google means that it wouldn't fall under the same type of jurisdiction. I am not positive about this but that has been my understanding of the law.

I believe you are right; e-mails are not considered the same as letters since one is a federal independent agency. That being said, accessing someone's e-mail falls under the set of laws dealing with unauthorized access to a computer (which was one of his charges).

Why isn't SHE on trial as well for misconduct? Is the government affair so "important" to her than why use a yahoo mail address and added to that the silly password recovery feature with real information. If the gov has a security policy i'm sure she broke quite a few rules there and it got to account for something or are some people not accountable no matter how stupid and reckless their actions are?

[citation][nom]mikem_90[/nom]Socialism, such a terrible thing! Imagine if other parts of our lives were run in a socialist manner... like, public roads, public highways, public Schools, city and state colleges (partly publicly funded), fire department, police, zoning codes, government funded research, water treatment/reclamation/supply, contract enforcement, national defense.... Think of the Horror![/citation]

Funny you should mention that since America’s infrastructure is decaying more rapidly than it is being repaired. Roads, bridges, levies, dikes, the electric grid, all are crumbling away. The public schools are notoriously terrible compared to private schools. There is a lot of waste in government funds and they often go to politicized projects instead of where they are really needed. Where I’m at people refuse to give up their well water and septic system.

Having both Intel and AMD around is good as competition is beneficial to the rest of us. The government is a giant monopoly with no competition.

Because politicians have been cutting back funding in favor of other projects and debt they and their predecessors ran up. When they only have a 2 or 4 year cycle, 10+ years down the road is nothing for them. Short term political gains vs long term outlook. Neglect and apathy. California had a bad habit of pushing debt problems further down the road by selling more bonds, the equivalent of taking out more credit cards to pay other credit card bills.

That happens in any political system all the way back to Monarchies and likely further. Doesn't matter how its funded, if the funders get apathetic and take money away, its going to crumble.

Infrastructure needs special long term time line plans to be evaluated and lifetimes of them taken into account, planning for its repair and eventual replacement. So that when the time is up, it gets inspected and a planned a budget is already in place for replacing it.

The problem is that we really don't do much planning ahead of the next 2-4 years due to our political cycle.

You are correct, and he was not arguing that the government doesnt do much. But he was also supporting his reasoning behind that issue. The other reason that the infrastructure is failing is from the old taxing policies. Which left the coffers empty to fix/repair/create newer infrastructures. Simply, no money = no fixes.

Although I do disagree with the fact that 2-4 year terms are a problem. Simply because Senators and house reps have only 6/2 year terms, but can be re-elected as many times as the people want them. So if they did their job by coming up with a fix correctly they wouldn't need to worry about "grabbing their cash and running" approach. But the problem with this is that a mention of taxing destroys their chances of re-election (simply because the middle/lower classes dont have much more to give and the rich are powerful enough to not be taxed as much).

Lastly the 2 party system is a joke. Neither side is any good anymore. The real question is which is the least of the two evils, but I hope that atleast one party will get their heads out of their "rear-ends".

You may not agree, and Im fine with that but realize that atleast some of what I have said you most likely will agree with.

Yeah, I left yahoo a couple of years ago when my account got hacked and Yahoo would not give it back to me. Well at least she was able to get hers back. It made me switch to gmail.

Just some FYI to all of you. At work your emails belong to the company that you work with. Some government agencies like the one that i work with here in FL the people can ask for public request of emails . No need to "hack" just ask. Yes i know going incognito on someone else's email account its way more fun...until they catch you !

So, we have many thousands of real hacking incidents where email passwords are stolen. In fact, I get email almost every day from hackers claiming to be some system admin saying that I've exceeded my 2 gb memory and that they need to reset my account and I now need to send them my password.

To my knowledge no one has ever been convicted for these criminal hackings (obviously, email address is taken over to search for banking details, to gain access to paypal accounts etc. etc.) Only this person who pulled off a joke by gaining access to Palin's account is sent to prison for a year.
