Will a core i5-3610me work in my satellite c655-s5512 ?
It has an hm65 chipset and a g2 socket.
It's currently running a 2nd gen core i5 but I would like to upgrade the graphics from the hd3000 to hd4000

thanks
John

Upgrading a laptops cpu is:
1. usually impossible due to it being soldered onto the board.
2. can give mayor issues (not enough power to the new cpu, overheating,...)
3. is in general not recommended
4. The 3610 is not compatible with the laptop

1. Only the socket is soldered to the board, the cpu is removable.
2. the existing cpu is 35w would replace with a 35w
3. I've run 3 different cpu on that board without issue, a celeron, a 1st gen i5 and a 2nd gen i5.
4. doesn't have to be a 3610. I want to upgrade to a 3rd gen i5 processor, just not sure of compatibility.
thanks

The board does not support 3rd gen i5's.
