Im in college doing software development course and i need a new laptop or a desktop. I was thinking of getting a macbook pro to do my college work as well as some gaming. The games i want to play are fro example cod and fifa. I dont mind to play it on medium settings but the max settings i want is high with a decent fps. Im not looking to play games a lot just light gaming. I was thinking of getting the macbook as i thought it would last me long due to apple saying there can NEVER be a virus in it and if a virus does affect the laptop theyll give me a new one straight away. I was also thinking it would last me through uni at least 4 more year from now maybe more.

Just get a free virus program on windows like bit defender and you will be fine just dont go to any weird porn sites and dont torrent anything your not sure abt (if u even do that) and you will be fine with windows and yes a decent windows laptop should last at least 5 years.

Yeah exactly, the claims about Apple's OS being immune to viruses is complete, um, BS. Any laptop, cell phone, or desktop on any network is prone to the same viruses that the rest of us are prone to. Doesn't matter what operating system it uses - Mac OSX, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Firefox OS, Ubuntu, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, the list goes on and on. And there's also no legitimate claim that any one anti virus program is better than the next, network security is just as important.

That said I personally wouldn't purchase a Macbook Pro - too much investment for sub par hardware, especially if you're going to be using your system as a development machine. You want the most power you can get for your budget, an MSI GS60 or any of the Sager / Clevo higher end laptops would be a much wiser use of money.

Well a desktop would be ideal for best performance to price ratio but you cant exactly take it into class with you.

Does the monitor have to be within your budget or no?
