Should I get a chromatic or a normal window 8

So, I am going to go back to college soon and i would need a new laptop that would do all my needs, i don't do IT so no programming needs I am just studying the normal subject like math, English and biology and chemistry, but i am not sure if then if I get the chromebook will I be able to study in their subjects. My budget is around $600

If you don't have any special programs you have to use with your schooling then get a chromebook.
