My sony vaio E series was not charging, orange light was blinking rapidly, not booting up by battery but booting up when plugged-in on AC power, if power cord was removed, shuts down immediately . Tried all the possible answers on the net but nothing worked. Even replaced a new battery still same condition persists.
Finally read somewhere, resetting the cmos battery ( just by unplugging the wire lead from the socket of Ni-MH 2.4v 15mAh rechargeable battery used in cmos of sony vaio). solved this problem.

In that video the small light green plastic thing just away from his right hand @ 9m 8s (play time) "peanut shaped" is the cmos battery.
Thanks to the answers on the net. saved rupees 10,000 from sony
