Sony LCD vs Plasma

I need a 32" TV. It has to be that specific size to fit.
I'm looking at two different Sony models.
The 32" LCD - KLV32M1
or
The 32" Plasma - KE32TS2

The plasma is currently on sale at Howard's for 1999 which seems like one
hell of price.

Any comments on either or both?

If I were going to get a set that was 34 inches or less I would get the
traditional HD CRT. It has the best picture and costs less than both.

The Sony 32" plasma is an older model which has been discontinued. 32"
plasmas have all but disappeared from the market as the manufacturers
have settled on 37" as the smallest size to market. Ok picture quality
as I recall, but not nearly as good as the current Panasonic or even
Sony models. Given that the brand name 42" ED plasmas have fallen to
around $2500 list with sales prices close to $2K even at the big chain
stores, I don't think that $1999 is all that good a price for a 32"
plasma which has been sitting around for some time.

Personally if I had to get a 32" flat widescreen (which has a smaller
picture for 4:3 material than a 27" 4:3 set, BTW), I would go for the
Sharp 32" G Aquos, the Panasonic TC-32LX50, or maybe the new Samsung 32"
model.

Hi,
I also needed a 32" Flat-panel for my daughter so I did quite some research.
I finally bought a Sharp Aquos LC-32D5U, a 2005 model. Came on Friday, 2
days ago. It has a built-in off-air antenna input plus the usual inputs. The
Sony you mention does not have an OTA input. Though, the picture on the Sony
was excellent. We pulled the major networks in digital off-air, plus public
TV. On Saturday they had Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in HD, and
it was like being at the theater, so sharp.

I am truly delighted at the Sharp!! Whew what a relief, I was going entirely
by reputation..there are reports of other Sharps online but not the latest
D5U. Picture quality is just grand, both in SD and HD. There is a TV Guide
onscreen feature. After overnight it asked us whether we have analog or
digital cable and we said analog. Maybe tomorrow it will show the TV guide
onscreen!! I think cable providers don't sent that info but once a day
maybe.
Whooo, the Sharp is super!! Pity the major stores don't stock this great TV
yet. They're still unloading the 32GA5U which does not have an OTA tuner.

u can get the new 32"LCD with the atsc tuner for the same price.
