sony Vaio laptop troubleshooting

My sony Vaio laptop won't turn on. The lights power on but no fan or screen action.

Try a reset, with the battery removed and the power adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for ~30 seconds, put battery back in, plug in power adapter and try powering on again - see where you get

It also happened to me. I did as friedman recommended but i cooled the battery in the fridge for about 5 minutes wrapped in tissue paper before I plugged it back. It worked. Thanks.
