Hi guys. A friend has given me a Sony VAio notebook and has asked if I can replace the hard drive with a ssd. Looking at the current drives connector...I've never seen one like it. It's not sata (definately not ide!) and the ssd I have is sata. Does anyone know if there is a converter available? The notebooks model number is VPCYB3V1E. thanks.

Solution
It has a standard SATA connection. Likely the hard drive has an adapter that is attached to the SATA ports on the hard drive that you can remove. Just pull gently on it and it should slide right off.

Hi guys. Sorry for the late reply. Doh! What a plonker I have been. You are right, there was an adapter connected to the drive. Removing this revealed the sata ports. ssd installed and working fine. Thanks again!
