this old laptop won't boot, it was working fine until yesterday, I tried the 30 sec... removing the battery etc.... also connecting it to an external monitor via vga dont work either.

So... I tried removing the ram and putting it back, nothing.

My last option would be to "remove the cmos battery" for a few minutes, I took the cover off but I can't find the cmos battery...

where is it ? Last time I replaced a cmos battery it was like the one I use on my car key.
This is the first Sony Laptop that I take apart... and all I can say is Horrible, I knew it the moment I removed the 300 different screws just the take the cover off. Sony stick to TVs please!

Can anybody help me locating the cmos battery.?
Here is a picture and Thank you.!

for documentation.

Google people and visitors, this laptop sucks... right now I'm downloading lots of updates to fix a lot of troubles.

take a look here.
http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=VPCEE42FX&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab

"Resolves an issue where the system may display a blank screen during start-up"......

another solution to this problem (dead screen) is to play a little with the brightness buttons (F5 AND F6) , of course pressing the Fn button and F6 right after pressing the power button.

Hi Last man,

can you detail where exactly you found the CMOS battery and what type of battery you replaced your old one with? I'm having BIOS time issues and everything points to a battery replacement.

I'm on a Sony Vaio VPCS11V9E, but i presume that the VPC part of that will mean that we are using the same or a similar body.

Thanks
