Speaker will play when headphones are in stereo

I have an ION obelisk3 stereo from the 90's. When i plug the headphone the stereo speakers still shout sound. Do I have to disconnect them to keep the room quiet?

Do not plug headphones in an USB outlet. They go in the sound board outlet. I doubt there is any way to play music through USB

It is an old system early 90's. The headphones are plug in a stereo receiver with 6,35 mn gold adapter (focal headphone). There is no USB part. The way i see it is to just unplug the paradigm speakers. Ordinarily, when we plug the headphone, the sound of the speakers cease.
