Speakers not working, only through headphones on ASUS

My speakers are not working on my ASUS X553M laptop (Windows 10). I used to have to switch between speakers and headphones, but this no longer comes up as an option on the screen and will only play sound through the headphones or external speakers.

When I click on the speaker symbol, it claims that the Realtek High Def audio is the default setting.

As far as I know, no updates have taken place to affect it.

Any ideas please as it's a little annoying!

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling the sound driver completely.

And what happens when you "test" the sound when it doesn't have headphones plugged in, does it come up with a error or just continue like it is playing through speakers.

When I try testing, it just continues playing. I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled as I'm not totally sure how to go about re-installing...

Have you checked if there is a update for the driver by right clicking on it in the device menu.?

If that doesn't work then go online search the name of your driver download a new install of it and uninstall the driver from your device menu.

If that doesn't work I think it's something on the other end a physical problem with the speakers I believe.
