I was trying to create a custom profile using speedfan that would turn my side case fan off when temps were low enough (only really needs to be on when gaming). However, when the fan would ramp back up from a 0% setting to being on again, something would emit a very audible squealing noise. I'm not sure if it was the fan, the mobo, or the psu, but in any case after it happened a second time I didn't care to test any guesses. Everything seems fine now, but I'm still concerned I may have damaged something; is there any way lowering changing the speed like that could damage a component?
