Splitter not picking up boom mic only headset mic

I have a mic in my headset which has bad quality but have a much better boom mic when I plug in the splitter for both no matter what it picks up only the worse one, however, plugged in separately (and awkwardly) the boom mic works, how can I fix this?

What are the two microphones you have? What splitter are you using?
You really shouldnt be using a splitter, its not going to work the way you think.

I've got the Asus detachable mic that comes with the headphones and on the headset, there is also an additional mic that is causing me all the trouble.

Im assuming you mean the Asus cerberus V2?
Do you have the boom mic inserted fully? From what I can tell the inline mic should only turn on when the boom isnt in use.

Yup, I can assure you the mic is fully in and yes I mean the V2

You might want to get into contact with ASUS about that, since there is no reason it should be prioritizing the inline mic.
The only other suggestion is to check your windows settings.

Could I manually be able to make the headset recognise the detach mic rather than the inline/inbuilt one?

Check the microphone settings under the sound section in windows.

Still nothing, I ran the troubleshooter and it said that it was fixed but when I tried it nothing changed 🙁
