Splitting an mpg video clip into multiple mpg video clips

Hi,

I have a DV Cam that I use for home movies and such and when a tape gets filled up I've been connecting it to my computer and dumping the whole tape into one file. I want to take each of those files and split them into separate clips, but have been unable to find a way to do it as of yet. A free option would be great, but having it be easy is also preferable. Thanks in advance!
