So Im cheap, how is non-HD cable on a HDTV?

Can I get away without the HD subscription?

Is the picture quality of an HDTV plus standard cable going to be worse than my old non HDTV?

Thanks- Im just wondering Im trying to figure cost out.

Im looking at HDTV in the 47"-55"+ sizes
:hello:

Solution
Cable and Direct TV will display at 720p is clear and sharp, but will only fill the center of your HDTV. You can strech (everybody gets fat) you can zoom (cropping occurs)
Over the air broadcasts NFL and Golf will be so amazing you'll pay the 10 bucks for hi def.
Enjoy
