Hello,

I have a Starchoice HDTV satellite receiver with the following problem.
The HD stations are coming through with a great flawless picture and sound while the standard digitial channels freeze.

The signal strength is 83.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Greg

At least one of the feed-horns is out of alignment. Signal strength 83 on what feed horn, of the three?
The alignment is super critical on these types of systems. An error of 1 mm will throw things off considerably. Recommend signal 90 minimum measured from each individual horn. How long are the cables from the dish? Are the cables stapled to the building? What type of cable?

Typically installers will not take the time to align the dish properly. They will staple the wires, which damages the coax, they will use cheap wire, the wire will be too long. Local sources of interference (like another satellite dish) can goof it up also.

Have great patience, take your time, and don't give up.
