Subwoofer

I have a pioneer Elite Reciever and a Polk 110 subwoofer, both brand new. I am using the subwoofer out on the pioneer and LFE in on the subwoofer. The subwoofer works for about 10 minutes then there is little to no sound after that. The back of the subwoofer is extremely hot even though I am just watching tv with little bass. Why would the sub just stop working, it there an internal heat mechanism to that shuts it down, and why would it be overheating when it is barely being used.

Sounds like the amp in the Polk sub is defective and overheating. Should be under warranty.
