If there are issues with Windows updates, you will see svchost run at a high %, it's usually taking up 25% or more of the CPU, is that what you are seeing? What happens when you turn off the Windows update service form control panel?
I've turned off Windows Update service and the svchost.exe is still running and I don't see any difference. I don't think CPU usage is the problem right now because mine (svchost.exe) doesn't use that much, but the network usage, It's downloading almost everyday and I have to restart my laptop to get rid of it, if not the svchost.exe will keep downloading endlessly.
