the motherboard blew?

One of my friend had a dell inspiron laptop. It was a fairly good laptop nthn too top notch or anything. It had a 2gb graphics card in it, i am not sure which one though. One day his laptop suddenly stoped working and when he gave it to the repair person, he said the motherboard blew away because you installed a lot of games on. Is it possible because it sounds a lil nonsense to me. He had games like driver san Francisco, hawx and saints row the third.

Motherboard breaking - totally within the realm of possibility.

Broke because he installed too many games? The repair guy doesn't know what he's doing, he just wanted to make your friend go away, trying to make more money from your friend by charging for a mobo repair when it could be something simple, or all of the above.

What exactly is motherboard breaking?

Blown capacitor, broken circuit somewhere, bent pin, bad PSU and many other things can cause a motherboard to "break."

But breaking because there are too many games installed makes very little sense.
