How can I tell if the bios I have is supported by a new chip I bought? Which bios if any does support it in my case?

Chipset - Intel GM45/GM47
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20ghz (old)
Socket P (478)

QX9300 SLB5J 2.53GHz 12MB 1066MHz 45w Quad (new)

Update:

Complete black screen when I installed the new chip. I assume since the chipset supports it that this means the chip is busted. I also re-installed the old chip again and then re-installed the new one to make sure I did everything correctly including re-applying thermal paste each time and cleaning them meticulously. Still a black screen sadly so I re-re-installed the old chip and here I am wondering if either the chip is bad or not compatible. I'm pretty sure its the former but please feel free to correct me if there is some kind of magical solution to this.

Qx9300 is supported by the chipset and I found a post on toshiba's site saying the x9100 works fine so it looks like Toshiba did not lock out any cpu's in the bios :)

Good Luck and let us know the results. You have a bit of work to do, the whole motherbd has to come out to access the cpu socket in that.

I hope this doesn't choose your answer as the answer because I was just trying to reply to you and I already got merged because I wanted to setup a discussion thread with the same question but here goes. I don't know whether toshiba's bios update supports more cpu chips but intel's probably does. Which do I choose?
