toshiba vs asus

Hey. So I'm an engineering student, and I need to upgrade my laptop to something that has an i5 or i7 core. What brand would be the best? I've heard good things about Asus, however budget wise I'm leaning towards Toshiba. I need some help.
I'll be using it mostly for autocad and doing school work. I don't surf the web a lot or need it for games.
So help me out please.

No, I'm giving this laptop to my wife. and it's pretty old, I'd rather just get a new updated one. And Yes, a good graphics card is a must for me.
