Track stolen laptop with serial number

my laptop has stolen.i have its serial number. can i track my laptop through it?can we track laptop if its operating system changed with only having serial number?can we get laptops mac adress & physical adress by it's serial number?
what r the other ways to track any stolen laptop with it's serial number?

The serial number is not broadcast. You will be unable to track with that method. The only way is if you had some sort of program on it that would allow for tracking.

Also, the MAC address is not tied to the serial number and not broadcast past the ISP, so would not be of help.

you can track it if it has gps in it. since you have the serial number report it stolen to your local authority.
