Trying to connect 2018 LG tv with optical audio to older kenwood reciever with rca connections

kenwood has the left / right and video rca connections. lg tv has single optical audio connection

There will be two different types of toslink to RCA adapters. Some that will support PCM audio only and some that support surround sound and PCM. IF your TV doesn't have the option to limit the optical output to PCM formatted data, then you have to get the kind that will accept surround sound encoded audio also.
