Solved! TV doesn't support widescreen through VGA?

I have a 37 inch Insignia LCD 1080P TV, and whenever I set my laptop to output in a widescreen resolution through VGA to my TV, I get a "not supported" message displayed on my TV. Non-widescreen resolutions work fine, but I always get the "not supported" message when I try to output in 16:9 or 16:10.

Does it have something to do with me using a VGA cable, or is it just my TV?

Check your settings. You may need to set your TV to the lower 720p resolution as you can't pass 1080p thru the VGA.

Also, what video card are you using?

also make sure the refresh rate match (60hz). Try to use the dvi-hdmi cable.
