Regarding mounting a new TV...

I have an 10 year old 50" Panasonic plasma, will the swing arm mounting match up to a new 65" unit? In other-words, is the bolt pattern the same or has the industry changed?

I think my current mount is a VESA. Are current TV's still on the VESA standard?

Thx

Solution
It depends on your mounting mechanism.

Standard mounting (screw holes) of TVs and Monitors are these (VESA): https://www.thinkvp.com/mountu/?catid=43

You need to check your mount's configuration. Some TV mounts have adjustable supports (for square or rectangular screw-hole patterns at a limited distance range), some have fixed (specific type of screw holes), some have X-type brackets (with several screw holes but only for a square screw-hole pattern).

This can fit square or rectangular screw-hole patterns:

This can only fit a specific screw-hole pattern...

This can only fit square screw-hole patterns of 2 different sizes:
