tv tuner card or video capture card

Not sure if I put this under the right section of the forum.

I want to turn my computer into a dvr, I am just not sure if I should buy a tuner card, or a capture card. I would be using a verizon vios set top box to get the video feed, so I am not sure if i would need a tuner card.

However, I would like to record in the highest setting possible. Right now I have hdmi out to my lcd tv. To get the best quality recordings, what would everyone recommend? I have build pc's before, but never really touched dvr.

Assuming your system has an available PCI-E slot, this is the solution you're looking for. It's an HD video capture card as opposed to TV Tuner card. The output of your VIOS set top box would go to the input of the Colossus for DVR capabilities.
